Overview of China's Decorative Paper and Flooring Industries Sales in 2023

According to incomplete statistics from the China Forestry Industry Association, the total sales volume of specialty base paper for decorative surfaces of wood-based panels from enterprises of a certain scale in China in 2023 was approximately 1.4524 million tons, an increase of 31.90% compared to the previous year. Among them: 1. The sales volume of decorative base paper was 1.4107 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 33.48%. Within the category of decorative base paper, solid color paper accounted for 378,200 tons, a year-on-year increase of 38.38%, while printing base paper accounted for 1.0325 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 31.78%. 2. The sales volume of balancing paper was 32,300 tons, a year-on-year decrease of 10.28%. 3. The sales volume of surface paper was 9,400 tons, a year-on-year increase of 14.63%.

Overview of China's Flooring Industry Sales in 2023

According to incomplete statistics from the China Forestry Industry Association, the total sales volume of flooring products from enterprises of a certain scale in China in 2023 was 6.632 billion square meters, a year-on-year decrease of 18.7%. Among them, wood and bamboo flooring accounted for approximately 3.222 billion square meters, crystal stone flooring accounted for approximately 2.72 billion square meters, and wood-plastic composite flooring accounted for approximately 690 million square meters.

Wood and Bamboo Flooring

The total sales volume of wood and bamboo flooring was approximately 3.222 billion square meters, a year-on-year decrease of approximately 8.9%. Among them, laminate wood flooring sales were 1.42 billion square meters, a year-on-year decrease of 10.1%; engineered wood flooring sales were 1.2 billion square meters, a year-on-year decrease of 6.3%; solid wood flooring sales were 300 million square meters, a year-on-year decrease of 9.1%; bamboo flooring sales were 250 million square meters, a year-on-year decrease of 15.5%; and sales of other types of flooring were 52 million square meters, a year-on-year increase of 4.0%.

Crystal Stone Flooring

The sales volume of crystal stone flooring was approximately 2.72 billion square meters, a year-on-year decrease of 30.1%. 

Wood-Plastic Composite Flooring

The sales volume of wood-plastic composite flooring was approximately 690 million square meters, a year-on-year decrease of 5.5%. Wood-plastic composite flooring exports accounted for approximately 75% of the total, with outdoor wood-plastic composite flooring accounting for approximately 95%.
